Poison Ivy

You greet me as I enter the driveway

Embracing my skin

Your touch inflames me

The battle is on

My week-long vacation spent seeking

To make you as miserable as you made me

Scratch, scratch, groan, groan

Under bushes

In my roses

Under my clematis

Behind the shed

It seems you are everywhere

Scratch, scratch, groan, groan

I finish my last bottle of poison

Rejoicing in my victory

I can return home triumphant

You peek out from under the Japonica

I hear the snicker

“I win!” I hear you whisper.
