I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, in a Christian home. My mother did Bible studies with us sometimes, and made us memorize scriptures.

That’s hard to say. I know I wrote a lot in high school, more poetry than anything else. I don’t remember writing much before then. I wrote a bit when my kids were growing up, but mostly journaled until about 5 years ago when I seriously started writing again as time and energy permitted. Throughout my teaching career I taught others how to write. I retired early in 2013. Since then, I have been writing a lot.

It’s an inspirational book, meant to make all of the Psalms relevant. I love the Psalms, and would often skip around because I couldn’t relate to some of them. This is an attempt to find some inspiration in all 150 Psalms. I am currently working on Volume II, Psalms 51-100. I am just beyond the halfway mark.

I am a control freak. I watched my daughter’s writing career get bogged down waiting on publication, and didn’t want that to happen with me. When I realized I could do it myself and control the entire process, I knew that was the way I wanted to go.

It’s an easy way to make free copies available. I was stuck trying to create ebooks until I read Mark Coker’s books. His writing has been extremely helpful in my journey. Now I need to read his marketing book.

Several of my readers have told me that my book has become their evening devotional. They read one Psalm each night from the Bible and compare it to my writing. One has even begun to write her own reflections. That is SO powerful for me.

They keep me writing. If no one was reading what I wrote, I might continue, but at a slower pace and without as much fire.

As I mentioned earlier, I am working on Volume II of my Psalms in the Key of Life three book series This time I am spending more time composing music and will add original photos (and perhaps a painting too).

I am also working on a short story anthology. By the end of the fall, I will make at least one of those stories available on Smashwords.

Some days, I am awakened by a character or an original song composing itself in my head. Other days, my achy joints force me to get moving. After a bit of yoga, I am usually energized and ready to work. I set goals, often lofty ones. I get excited when I reach one of them. The unusual day that the “to-do” list gets complete, I am really excited.

I am almost always creating. If not “writing” I am taking photos, or working on improving my musical skills. I am not the greatest musician, just one who needs to create. When doing neither, I am laying in my hammock reading, or playing a relatively mindless Android game to let my mind rest.
