This photo is from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Multicultural Festival. The event was held in a park that is known for its homeless population. The park is effectively on VCU’s campus, so it was the perfect location. So, included in the many cultures was the culture of homelessness. The man in the photo below was having a great time performing for the crowd. I chose to make the background black and white for a couple of reasons. First of all, he loved being the center of attention, so I tried to do just that with this photo. Secondly, he obviously wasn’t letting his dire circumstances bring him down that day, so I made him a colorful spot within a subdued background.
